In late September, a Connecticut nonprofit pulled off a healthcare win worth celebrating. Malta House of Care (a free clinic on wheels) opened a new mobile health clinic site in East Hartford, bringing free primary care right to an underserved community’s doorstep. Supported by a grant from The Cigna Group Foundation, the clinic sets up twice a month at a local church hall and is expected to log over 1,000 patient visits a year – treating chronic conditions like diabetes and providing preventive care like cancer screenings and vaccines. With roughly 15% of East Hartford adults uninsured, this expansion meets a critical need. Malta has already provided 86,000+ free patient visits over 20 years — and they aren’t slowing down.
